Article is unwieldy

[edit]

I suggest cutting out the list of actors, and the gallery - perhaps scatter a couple of the most well-known in the body. This article is just too long and unwieldy. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 11:48, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Indigenous Filmmakers are entirely missing from this article?

[edit]

It might be a good idea to add a section about indigenous filmmakers. There are some incredibly important projects that have been created by the community and I personally find it extremely odd that an article about Australian cinema makes minimal reference to the Aboriginal community or any actors/creators whatsoever. *Katnotcat (talk) 17:37, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The hard part is finding reputable independent sources. Doug butler (talk) 21:23, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

"Cinema in Australia is subject to censorship" should not be in the lead section

[edit]

While classification is a worthwhile topic to be included in the article, having it as its own paragraph in the lead section is bizarre and doesn't make much sense. The U.K. also has a government-run classification system that can de facto make it illegal to sell or show films, but there isn't a paragraph on it on the "Cinema of the U.K." article. Calling it censorship is also an odd choice. While Media that is Refused Classification is illegal to sell, rent, etc., it is not illegal to own or consume, and it is very rare especially today for media to be refused classification. The line feels partisan and does not give the reader an unbiased representation of Australian cinema. Stapler42 (talk) 08:37, 27 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
